Move over, Anaheim
With the Disneyland resort taking a very low-key approach to the park's 55th birthday, what better way to spend it then at the Walt Disney Family Museuem. It seems the Walt Disney Company decided to save some money this year and only offer stuff to buy, cupcakes, and a couple of hastily put together speeches. How sad.
On July 18, 1955, Disneyland officially opened its doors. Fifty-five years later, a rare gathering of Disney legends, family members, former executives (2 Disneyland Presidents), Imagineers and other special guests are gathering in San Francisco at the new Walt Disney Family Museum. This is a chance to hear them share their personal stories about working with Walt.
Special guests include:
Diane Disney Miller - daughter of Walt Disney (Friday, July 16 only)
Tony Baxter - current SR VP of Creative Development for Disneyland
Jack Lindquist - former President of Disneyland
Dick Nunis - Disney Legend and former Chairman of Walt Disney Attractions
Matt Ouimet - former President of Disneyland
Buzz Price - Economist who helped Walt Disney find the original Disneyland site
Craig Russell - current Chief Design and Project Delivery Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering
Marty Sklar - Disney Legend and former Vice Chair of Imagineering
Bruce Vaughn - Current Chief Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering
The events will take place at the Special Exhibition Hall at the Museum
Friday, July 16 is limited to the Founding Members
Saturday, July 17 and 18 are open to the public with the programs starting at 3:00 pm
